The assignment was to create four different book pages. We were to take a page of the book, choose words that we like. Then, to make these words appear to complete a phrase, I painted over the rest of the words around them. Something I did wrong, was that I might've been absent, or just missed the memo that we were supposed to have one digital photo. Next time I will make sure to have composed all the pieces correctly, before being sure it is complete enough to turn in.
Page #1 Coffee
I decided I would make at least one page of a simpler style. This one has a really smooth background and the transition from the coffee mug to the background color is very defined, and clear. The words are nothing special, don't really lead you to any great thinking, but the image I painted reflected the words perfectly.
Page #2 Flowers
The words do not reflect the image perfectly in this one, but they are not far fetched. This talks about dreams, or dreaming, and when we think of this a certain connotation of mysterious, blurry, or bright things comes into mind. That is why I decided it would be appropriete to create a flowery type background, however, it is not too defined. The bright background and the bright color of flowers blend in, because I didn't want to outline the flowers, or make them of any detail.
Page #3 Dusk
I'd say this is page is my favorite. I even hung it in my room! It is different from the others because it appears to have a very rough texture, and the lines are of different thickness, but blend nicely. The image and the words correspond well.
Page #4 Shadows
This is the page that sends a really dark message. I tried to display a sense of shadows against a deep, black surface. The light and dark shades contrast well.

SkateBoard
#1 My first skateboard
It took me probably two days to find a design I wanted to stick with! When I looked around the class, it looked like most people were creating images, rather than patterns. I couldn't set myself on an image, so I decided I'd just create a consistent pattern. It took me a while to draw small flowers covering the whole sheet of paper. Then, I only colored some in so it didn't appear to be too much.
#2 My second skateboard
The reason I did a second skateboard was partially because I wasn't 100% content with my first one, but I also had extra time, and the extra credit would help me out. I didn't create an image on this one either. I chose two loud colors, a bright orange and a bright blue, and created lines straight and wavy going across the board.

Portrait #2
Our assignment was to print out a picture of the profile of someones face, from the internet. I searched for one I wanted to try for a while, trying to find one that I didn't think I would find too easy or too hard. I chose a photo of Emma Watson because I liked how her hair was up, and it appeared different than most others. The main thing I had a lot of trouble with was her nose! I could never get it right. Then, her head was too big for all her facial features which I had already created...So, I did have many troubles creating this piece. Placing all the facial features on her face with the right spacing in between them is a difficult task. I liked this assignment.

Portrait #1
Our assignment was to print out a picture from the internet of a portrait of someone's face. I chose a photo of Amanda Seyfried because it was very straight foward, and I liked the shading on her face in the photograph. However, I think I could've presented the appropriete shading better. I was not fully satisfied with the correspondance of the pictures, but I believe it was a pretty difficult assignment to get them to match exactly.

First Blog
This is my blog... I have created for Art Class with Ms. Martin. I have never had a blog before, so I am excited to start and continue with consistency throughout the year. I will share my artwork with my peers, and have the opportunity to view other blogs. I plan on getting hooked!
